Klaris, a New York City-based law firm, is seeking an exceptional associate (3rd–4th year) to join our 21-lawyer media and intellectual property boutique. This is a hands-on role for a confident, driven litigator, who has demonstrated media law interest and who thrives on responsibility, plugs in quickly, and takes ownership of matters from day one.

The attorney will support a diverse docket of contested matters alongside meaningful pre-publication and pre-broadcast clearance work. The role offers a rare opportunity to engage deeply with cutting-edge copyright, trademark, First Amendment, and newsgathering litigation, as well as commercial disputes at the heart of the media business. This is not a back-office role—the attorney will be given significant responsibility, working directly with clients, being proactive and strategic.

Responsibilities:

- Take an active role in supporting litigation matters from inception through resolution

- Have weekly responsibilities on our pre-publication team, identifying legal issues prior to publication and working with media clients on mitigating risks, newsgathering questions, and court proceedings.

- Handle federal and state court proceedings, as well as arbitrations

- Conduct sophisticated legal research and draft dispositive motions, briefs, and other advocacy-driven submissions

- Manage discovery end-to-end, including strategy, document review, depositions, and motion practice

- Participate in oral arguments and court appearances- Collaborate closely with partners and clients to develop and execute case strategy

- Juggle multiple fast-moving matters

Compensation: $155,000-170,000 plus bonus and full, competitive benefits package

The Media & Entertainment Transactional group at Klaris is seeking an associate (joining at the 2nd–3rd year level) to join our entertainment, media,and intellectual property boutique in New York City.

This is a hands-on role for a confident, driven but gracious negotiator and detail-oriented drafter who thrives on responsibility, plugs in quickly, and inspires trust from day one.

The attorney will work on transactions across all firm matters, including streaming, film, documentaries, podcasts, theater, traditional publishing,digital media, live events, sports, promotions, marketing, commercial tech, and general corporate matters.

Responsibilities:
-     Take an active role in supporting transactions from deal ideation through execution
-     Draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements,from bespoke deals to tailored client templates
-     Stay up to date on developments in the industry that inform client matters
-     Manage a high volume of complex, fast-moving transactions
-     Collaborate closely with partners and clients to develop and execute deal strategy
